S.E.O. and Content
The main thing most web sites come up short on is content. I'm not talking flash ads, flash animations, graphics with words and such. Use those features to dress the content.
Content rules the web. If quality content isn't there, your customers have no reason to stay.
Or return.
Your designer should leave you with ample space to insert as much text as you can imagine, and you should use every bit of this to your advantage.
Don't get the wrong idea here, content should be relevant to what you have to sell. Don't write 50 articles on ice machines when you sell pickup trucks. If I'm looking for a pickup truck, I don't want an ice machine, and vice versa.
One other key to keep in mind is that you should not write content "just for the search engines." Content should be written that you users actually care to read.
